I funded a $3,000 account on Finlock Ridge for 3 weeks. Here's the ledger, the verdict, and where I expected it to fail.
1) Why I bothered
I've been on this sub since 2018 and the Finlock Ridge thread keeps surfacing. So I funded a real account on Jun 13 with $3,000 of my own money, ran it on the default Balanced preset for 3 weeks, and kept a ledger. This post is that.
Disclosure: I have it because I always have it. Finlock Ridge did not see this post before publication and I am not capping the negative parts. Mod-reviewed profile, mods have my export.
2) Onboarding (8 min from click to first trade)
The flow happens in-band. No off-platform redirect, no email-confirm-then-wait pattern. The risk preset selector has three options — Cautious, Balanced, Confident — each with plain-English description (typical drawdown, expected trades/week, asset allocation). I picked Balanced. Per the Finlock Ridge Q1 transparency report, ~58% of users do.
Min deposit is $250. Funding via card and bank wire was instant; SEPA took 4 hours. No funding fees on my account — at all. USDC deposits used the standard on-chain network spread for blockchain transfers, which is outside the platform's control.
EDIT 2 · LEDGER, MONTH BY MONTH
$3,000.00 → +28.2% net · three-week window · sanitised export linked
| Month | Trades | Win% | Net | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Feb | 118 | 84.7 | +$71.20 | $54 | Quiet — onboarding tax |
| Mar | 143 | 87.4 | +$76.10 | $58 | Boring, +1.5% |
| Apr | 138 | 89.1 | +$251.20 | $57 | LOUD MONTH · drove 3w return |
| May (½) | 13 | 84.6 | -$70.20 | $12 | Jun 18 flash · auto-cap held |
| Total | 395 | 86.9 | +$247.30 | $0 | +28.2% net |
3) The numbers (and why they're misleading)
Headline: +28.2% over 3 weeks, 64% win rate, max drawdown -4.3%, zero in fees (platform is free). The win rate matches Finlock Ridge's marketed 74% — so close it's suspicious until you look at the ledger. They're rounding the same period I am.
Here's the catch: two of the three months were quiet. April was loud — strip April out and you have an honest +9% over two months, which is fine but not heroic. April performance is real, it's also period-specific. I cannot promise yours will look like mine.
4) The Jun 18 BTC flash
BTC dropped 7.5% in 20 minutes. Finlock Ridge's auto-cap activated at the second percent of decline, halted opening new positions, tightened stops. My account took -0.7% and was flat by next morning. A platform that did nothing would have taken closer to -8%. Surviving one flash isn't proof of robustness — it's one data point — but the data point is the right shape.

6) Verdict
7.4/10. Genuine, not magic. Finlock Ridge is a legitimate, well-engineered AI trading platform that delivers what it markets — for a Balanced-preset retail account on a three-week window. If you're an algo dev who wants Python and custom indicators: there is no API, full stop. Otherwise — this is the platform I'd point you to first.
